Frequently Asked Questions

If you need more information, these FAQs can help.

## Why choose TagoIO over larger, established alternative companies?

TagoIO is faster to develop features and agile enough to adapt to your specific needs. We provide responsive support with real people helping you through the whole process. We refined our IoT platform with customers in more than 120 countries during the last 10 years. TagoIO is cash flow positive and growing 30% per year minimum. We have several enterprise customers with 3 to 5 year guaranteed contracts. We guarantee a minimum 90 days written notice for service or feature discontinuation and 180 days for major service changes. Our platform can export data and scripts in real time. TagoIO is ISO27001 Certified with additional business continuity planning and custom contractual terms.

## Who owns and controls customer content?

As a customer, you maintain ownership of your content, and you control how TagoIO services will process, store, and present your content, including your application. By using the Access and User control features, you define how end-users will access your applications and content. We don't use your customer content or derive information from it for marketing or advertising.

## Where is my data stored?

TagoIO Admin databases are located on servers in the United States and Ireland. [TagoDeploy](https://tago.io/deploy.md) offers the use of servers located in other regions (Berlin, Zurich, Paris, Sao Paulo...) so that users can keep all data in their own region. Users can download all data to their own servers and define a retention period for how long data should be kept at TagoIO's database.

## Which web browsers do TagoIO Admin and TagoRUN work with?

TagoIO Admin, TagoRUN, and TagoDeploy are optimized for Chrome (latest version), Firefox (latest version), Safari (latest version), and Edge. They also work with Chrome on Android (latest version) and Safari on iOS (latest version).

## What are the types of customer information at TagoIO?

At TagoIO, we classify customer information in two categories: customer content and account information. Customer content is all data that users transfer to us for processing and storage, such as data sent from IoT devices, dashboards, API integrations, image or video files, scripts, and configurations. Account information includes name, username, email, phone number, and billing information associated with the admin account. Our privacy policy can be found at [tago.io/privacy](https://tago.io/privacy.md).

## How can I know which users are accessing my applications?

By configuring TagoRUN, our whitelabel edition, your applications and users will be separated to an area controlled by your master account. You will know who signed up, and will be able to grant or deny access to each one. This information will be available only for you.

## In what languages is TagoIO available?

TagoIO and TagoDeploy are fully supported in English for developers and administrators. For end-users, TagoRUN is available in any language based on the file uploaded in the Dictionary. Select the desired language in Account Settings > Visualization Preferences, under MyAccount option.

## Is an on-premises version available?

TagoIO and TagoDeploy run on cloud so that customers get the best of redundancy, uptime with the minimum overhead and costs. You can use [TagoCore](https://tago.io/core.md) and run it on-premise or on your own cloud provider.

## Can TagoAI change things in my account?

Only what the selected mode allows. You pick the mode at the bottom of the chat panel before you send a message: Read Only answers questions, inspects resources, and analyzes data without changing anything, Edit Mode lets it edit existing resources and create new ones, and Full Access adds deletion. Dashboards it edits are versioned, so you can roll one back, and it can never exceed the permissions your own user already has.

## Where are my AI provider keys stored?

In TagoIO Secrets, encrypted at rest. They are only read when TagoAI needs to send a request, and they are not exposed through the Admin once saved.

## Can I turn TagoAI off?

Yes. TagoAI is configured per Profile under Profile Settings, Services, AI Provider, so you can enable it on one Profile and leave it off on another. Profiles in the EU region have it off by default.

## Which AI models does TagoAI use?

Either the TagoIO default, where TagoIO picks the model and provider, or your own account with OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter. The setting is per Profile, so two Profiles in the same account can use different providers.

## What counts as a TagoAI prompt?

Each message you send to TagoAI counts as one prompt. Unused prompts in a billing cycle do not carry over to the next one. When you connect your own AI provider, prompts go through that account and are billed by that provider, and the TagoIO monthly limits stop applying.

## Is what TagoAI does recorded?

Yes. Actions TagoAI takes on your account are recorded in the Audit Log with the account that ran them, the time, and what changed.
