Enhanced Security and Control features: Introducing Access Management for ‘Analysis’

TagoIO Team

We are thrilled to announce a significant update to our TagoIO Analysis feature – the Access Management for Analysis. The AM for Analysis update has been designed to augment the level of control and security in your Analyses, preventing unauthorized usage of resources.

We will create an AM for Analysis rule in every TagoIO account to ensure their previous Analysis works normally. It is crucial that this AM for Analysis rule remains in place to ensure the continued functioning of the system. Please exercise extreme caution when considering the deletion of this rule, and only proceed if you are confident that you have integrated your system with the appropriate AM rule.

Why are we adding AM for Analysis?

In our previous system, every Analysis required a Profile Token for system integration. While effective, this setup could inadvertently expose the token, creating potential security vulnerabilities. Additionally, Analyses had automatic access to services such as SMS, email, and notifications, which could lead to unmonitored resource usage.

The implementation of AM for Analysis in our system is our solution to address these concerns. With AM for Analysis, you can set specific rules, essentially defining what your Analysis can access and which services it can use.

Taking Control with AM for Analysis

AM for Analysis puts the power back in your hands, offering a user-friendly panel on the TagoIO Admin page to set your own directives, as exemplified in the image below.

Seamless transition with continued API functionality

While we're introducing AM for Analysis, it's important to highlight that all existing APIs will continue to operate without any disruption indefinitely. Even though these will be marked as 'deprecated,' there's no need for concern regarding their functionality. Your current processes will remain uninterrupted, ensuring a smooth transition to the new system.

How does AM for Analysis work?

We have prepared a simple example to illustrate the usage of the new API with the enhanced AM for Analysis. As you can see in the following code, there is no longer a need for a token to access the device list, not an analysis token or any token. All you need to do is create an AM to provide access to the device list, and then you're all set to use it. This truly represents the enhanced control and security offered by AM for Analysis.

Automatic AM Rule for Common Services

As we transition to AM for Analysis, we understand the importance of ensuring your existing Analysis workflows remain unaffected. Therefore, we are automatically adding an AM Rule to all accounts. There is no need for action during this transition. This rule will allow all Analyses to access common services such as SMS, email, PDF, and notifications, as they do today. This ensures a seamless transition with no actions needed on your end. However, it's crucial to be mindful of this new AM Rule. If deleted, all Analyses will lose access to these common services. We strongly recommend keeping this rule intact to maintain uninterrupted access to these services for your Analyses.

We are confident that the AM for Analysis update, offering superior control and strengthened security, will set a new standard in managing your IoT applications. TagoIO remains dedicated to consistently innovating and providing solutions that meet and exceed your needs.
