New export feature for IoT data management [beta]

TagoIO Team

New IoT data management export feature

Since TagoIO was founded, we have always looked for ways to improve user experience, security, and provide the perfect IoT (Internet of Things) platform. To continue excelling and expanding our platform in those same ways, we are adding a new beta feature to our ever-growing data management system.

Developers now have another way to backup or export their device’s data from their high-performance databases (buckets) to TagoIO files and download them safely and efficiently. This now opens the possibility to export to other cloud platforms like AWS or any platform that is compatible with JSON or CSV files.

This is a great way to keep your data backed up, avoid human error, have disaster recovery options, and also abide by data compliance laws.

For example, imagine that you are deleting some device data from your bucket and you select the wrong files; situations such as this one are not ideal, however, they might happen.

How does the new data management feature work?

This new feature, as previously mentioned, allows developers to take their data off of their high-performance database and put it inside TagoIO files where they will be available for download.

It’s important to note, however, that this feature is only available for immutable buckets, as TagoIO offers two distinct bucket types. The first is optimized for a high volume of data, that being the immutable bucket, and the second can be easily edited to manage parameters and data from companies and assets, with that being the mutable bucket.

Data management for IoT

Inside your TagoIO account, as shown in the image above, you can manually select the data period by clicking on the blue squares and then selecting the ‘Export Chunks’ option.

From here, you will have your data exported to your Files, making it easy to download and access it from anywhere.

When necessary, developers are able to create scripts that can automate the whole data export process. They can choose the buckets and periods that should be exported and schedule the time for the process to start.

There’s also the option to automate removing files from the bucket after exporting them, and this process allows you to create a full backup procedure to keep your data safe in case anything goes wrong.

By creating these scripts, developers will increase their capacity to store data inside their high-performance databases (buckets), release storage space, and replace it with new data.

For more information about automating this procedure, please visit our Software Development Kit page. The SDK is available for JavaScript/TypeScript and Python. You can also contact us via our community area where you can interact with developers across the world and get help.

You can find this new beta feature, and many others, by accessing your TagoIO account on our portal. If you don’t have one yet, you can easily create one by clicking here.

We hope this feature will help you in your IoT implementation journey!
